Crompton Organic Peroxide Curing Agents and Crosslinking Agents
With over 30 years of manufacturing and technical expertise,
Crompton is a leading developer and producer of organic peroxides
curing agents and crosslinking agents. Curing agents are used
for unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins, and crosslinking
agents for polymers such as polyethylene, rubbers, ethylene
copolymers, and polyurethane.
Peroxide Curing Agents
Crompton is well known for producing exceptional quality methyl
ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) curing agents that have low water,
low hydrogen peroxide, and low free MEK content. These curing
agents include Hi-Point 90 and the Quickset series. They are
primarily used for ambient temperature cure in fiberglass
reinforced plastics applications using thermoset unsaturated
polyester and vinyl ester resins. The low water content provides
compatibility with moisture sensitive resins and ensures minimum
effect on gel coat viscosities. The curing agent also can
be obtained in a red version, to aid in monitoring peroxide
dispersion and resin mixing. Crompton also provides a series
of hydroperoxide curing agents for ambient temperature cures,
CHP cumyl hydroperoxides.

Peroxide Crosslinking Agents
Crompton organic peroxide initiators are also utilized as
crosslinking agents with polymers such as polyethylene, rubbers,
ethylene copolymers, and polyurethane. The most prominent
organic peroxide crosslinking agents are of the dialkyl peroxides
group, e.g., Esperal 115RG. Advantages of peroxide vulcanization
in contrast to sulfur vulcanization in the final product are
no added color, higher compression set resistance, and better
low-temperature flexibility. Organic peroxide crosslinking
agents also provide better storage of the compounded material,
simpler formulations, and higher processing temperatures.
